Out-of-province Clients

The most common hospital-based private elective services that we offer to out-of-province clients are:
1. Gastroscopy
2. Colonoscopy
3. Hernia repair
These services are performed by our surgeon, at the renowned Cambie Surgery Centre in the heart of Vancouver. These services are “same-day”, meaning that the patient will leave the facility the same day, without the need of hospitalization.
The patient will need to be accompanied out of the facility by a responsible adult, after the procedure and needs to stay with the responsible adult overnight in the city of Vancouver until 24 hours post-procedure or post-surgery. The patient then can fly back home.
The most common office-based procedures that we offer to out-of-province clients are:
We offer thyroid biopsy as a package. The package includes a consultation, the same day procedure, and a virtual or telephone follow-up appointment. The procedure is a relatively simple 15-minute procedure without sedation. The client is fully awake and can fly home the same day.
In order to best assist our out-of-province clients, we ask the interested client to send us a copy of their thyroid ultrasound report and any relevant reports, as well as a frontal and side profile picture of their neck, as well as a description of their symptoms, prior making their appointments.
Please enquire for further questions.
We offer this service as a package. The package includes a virtual consultation, the in-person capsule colonoscopy, and a virtual or telephone follow-up appointment. This is an office-based procedure. The patient spends just the morning at the office and can leave the office with a discreet recorder and its sensor belt on. Digital photographs are taken as the capsule travel through the large intestine and are recorded in the recorder.
Please note that out-of-province patient needs to cleanse the bowel similar to the preparation for the traditional colonoscopy, ONE day before of the procedure. We recommend the out-of-province patient factor the cleansing in the travel plan. We do not recommend flying on the day of the cleansing.
Once the capsule excretes the system the same day, the patient needs to return the recorder and its sensor belt to our office the next business day. The data needs to be uploaded into our main system in a timely manner, for our surgeon’s review. Upon returns the recorder and its sensor belt, the patient can fly back home.
Please enquire for further questions.
If the out-of-province client requires traveling assistance, please feel free to enquire, our staff will be more than happy to assist. Many of our out-of-province clients and their families take the opportunity to visit the beautiful British Columbia.
